MES on the road - June and July
MES on the road…
Two months filled with events, projects in a variety of sectors including Heavy Power Generation and Robotics, a visit to Mexico, a COPA America football [soccer] match in Houston and topped off with a trip to Grimsby.
The calendar recently has been jam packed! Back in June, MES underwent an audit process for a leading Global MRO. It was a critical few days of review, but ones that allowed the team’s skills and capabilities to shine as we achieved approval to work under the MRO’s PART 21 J and PART-145 certification.
Our next stop was to the ‘Twin Peaks’ Hangar in St Athan’s ‘Bro Tathan’ facility as we worked closely with Heavy Maintenance MRO provider Caerdav on a collaboration day, discussing metrology and heavy maintenance amongst other hot topics in the industry. This collaboration has been a key part of the growing success of the Aerospace Wales Forum, and the Aerospace Wales MRO Hub.

It was a trip over the pond and a flight to the world’s busiest airport in Atlanta, Georgia, that was next on the agenda, as we visited our friends at Aviation Service Partners [ASP], a US based MRO provider. We toured some key facilities where they are currently operating in and gained an understanding of the latest trends in the US market.
ASP then hosted us at their own facility down in Houston. The visit allowed us to present MES’ whole aircraft offering to a select group of personnel, as well as oversee a challenging live project.
The adventure didn’t stop there as ASP’s hospitality saw us travel to Queretaro, Mexico, where we visited more of their facilities and toured the Safran Engine Plant.
Queretaro has well-established ties to the aviation industry and will likely play an important role in the future of MES as we began establishing roots with the Universidad Aeronáutica en Querétaro [UNAQ University] to reach out to prospective graduates. MES is proud to support graduates and already has opportunities in the UK.
From planning for the future to a sporting event like no other as our friends at Spark Global Energies hosted us at the NRG Stadium, Houston to witness the COPA America clash between Columbia and Paraguay. Columbia came out on top as 2-1 winners and MES CEO Steve Beasley described the game as: “just unbelievable, the atmosphere was incredible. Thanks, SGE!”
After the final whistle, it was time to head straight to Newport, Newport Rhode Island that is, where we got invaluable insight into the Marine Measurement Sector and discussed how MES’ capabilities can support it.
The team then flew back to the UK and completed critical scanning work in Grimsby.
Scanning work in June covered sectors including pharmaceutical, commercial aviation, aerospace manufacturing support, heavy power generation and robotics.
Most recently, team MES has been showcasing at the Farnborough International Airshow, only a few days after hosting esteemed customers at the Royal International Air Tattoo. We enjoyed meeting with our customers & partners, as well as connecting with the global aerospace community.
We were delighted to be invited as an ATI Theatre speaker and proudly shared our insights into 'How Digital Tools are Changing the MRO Industry' on Wednesday – and trust us, they are!
Check out the highlights from the ATI Theatre here.

Our growth trajectory is truly exciting, and we can’t wait to see what the remainder of 2024 brings.
