MES on the road - August
Following on from our last edition, where we shared highlights of our visits and partnerships, this month continues our journey of collaboration, growth, and community support. Here’s a round-up of what’s been happening at MES in August.
Hexagon Visit: A Day of Collaboration and Innovation
This month, we had the pleasure of spending a day at Hexagon’s base in Telford. It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces and discuss the latest advancements in metrology. Throughout the day, we explored new technologies and products that could enhance our processes, with metrology developments taking centre stage in our discussions.
A special thanks to Neil Barnett, Barbara Price, Barry Dimelow, and Simon Jack for their time and insights. This visit was a great reminder of how collaboration with partners like Hexagon keeps us at the forefront of industry innovation, building on the momentum from our previous technology-focused discussions.
Company Consolidation Day: People at the Heart of MES
Continuing our commitment to growth and development, we held our second Company Consolidation Day. This was an important moment for all of us to come together and reflect on our mission and vision for the future.
At MES, our people are the foundation of everything we do. The consolidation day allowed everyone to contribute their thoughts and ideas, ensuring we continue to grow in a direction that reflects the values of our team. Building on the success of our first session earlier in the year, this second meeting was another step forward in strengthening our company’s path.
Supporting Local Sports: MES Sponsors Caerphilly & RCT Hockey Club and Saltford FC
In keeping with our ethos of supporting the community, MES is proud to announce that we are sponsoring Saltford FC’s warm-up tops, the local team of our colleague Jamie.
That’s not all though for community sport sponsorship as we’ve also got the Caerphilly & RCT Hockey Club covered with shirt sponsorship connected to our team member Owain.
As a company that values teamwork and dedication, it’s an honour to support local teams that shares these values on the pitch. We’re excited to see both teams sporting their new tops this season and wish them all the best in their upcoming matches.

Apprentice Update: Owain and Hywel Begin Journey with MES
Our apprentices continue to impress us with their dedication and growth. This month, we caught up with two of our newest apprentices, Hywel Leyshon and Owain Soffe, to learn more about their experiences at MES.
Hywel Leyshon
2nd Year, Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, University of Bath
“My experience at MES has been incredibly rewarding. The training I’ve received on PolyWorks and SRM has been thorough, and the opportunity to work directly with the scanners has been invaluable in helping me understand the processes.
I’d encourage anyone looking for similar work experience to seek out companies like MES, where growth and development are supported by a collaborative team.”

Owain Soffe
BEng Mechanical Engineering, University of South Wales
“So far, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at MES. Being able to work alongside industry experts has been a great experience, and I’ve always felt supported by my colleagues. The biggest thing I’ve learned so far is how to use the PolyWorks software and the AS1 scanner to create models that we can utilise in the software. I’m looking forward to more hands-on experience with the scanner and contributing more confidently to the company.”
When asked what advice he would give to others considering a similar opportunity, Owain said: “I’d definitely recommend MES. Everyone is friendly and approachable, and it’s a great place to develop the skills needed for the future.”
Both Owain and Hywel have shown great promise, and we’re excited to see them continue to develop their skills with us, reflecting our ongoing investment in nurturing young talent.
As we continue to hit the road with MES, we remain focused on collaboration, innovation, and community. Stay tuned for next month’s updates as we continue to drive forward together.
